Getting Started with RentWize

RentWize is the tenancy documentation app for Australian renters who want cleaner records, stronger evidence, and fewer bond surprises.

Use this guide to get from zero to a usable tenancy file.

1. Create your account

  1. Go to the RentWize web app.
  2. Select Create account.
  3. Enter your email and password.
  4. Enter the verification code sent to your email inbox.
  5. Complete the four onboarding steps: State, Situation, Property, and Ready.
  6. Continue to your dashboard.

If you start sign-up from a specific onboarding flow, RentWize only keeps that intent for a short period. If the link or browser session is stale, restart sign-up from the app so your onboarding state is fresh.

2. Complete your profile

Add the basics first:

  • full name
  • preferred contact email
  • state or territory
  • current rental address
  • lease start date, if known
  • property manager or landlord contact details, if known

Your state or territory matters because rental notices, tribunal names, timeframes, and escalation paths differ across Australia.

3. Add your rental property

Go to Properties → Add Property and enter:

  • property address
  • lease start and end dates
  • weekly, fortnightly, or monthly rent amount
  • bond amount
  • property manager or landlord details
  • emergency repair contact, if available

A clean property record is the backbone of your evidence, repairs, communications, and bundle exports.

4. Document condition immediately

Before problems start, record the property condition:

  • take wide photos of every room
  • take close-up photos of existing marks, cracks, stains, mould, damage, or wear
  • upload the signed entry condition report if you have one
  • add dates and short descriptions to each file
  • keep exit-condition evidence separate from entry-condition evidence

Good evidence is boring, dated, and specific. That is exactly what you want.

5. Use RentWize for the day-to-day tenancy trail

RentWize is strongest when you use it as events happen:

  • log maintenance issues when they appear
  • upload photos before and after repairs
  • record emails, texts, notices, and calls
  • keep receipts and invoices
  • track rent increases or bond disputes
  • export relevant evidence when preparing a tribunal bundle

6. Choose a plan only when it helps

The Free plan is enough for basic record-keeping. Plus and Pro are for renters who need more storage, more active tools, or stronger dispute preparation. Identity verification is a separate optional/where-required workflow and may be requested before sensitive exports or premium workflows are available.

If RentWize asks you to verify your identity, use the secure Verify identity flow from the dashboard after onboarding. It is not an additional account creation step.

See Choosing a Plan for current plan limits and billing details.

What RentWize does not do

RentWize does not replace a lawyer, tenancy union, state regulator, or community legal centre. It helps you organise and prepare your tenancy records. Always verify legal deadlines, notice wording, and tribunal requirements for your state or territory before taking action.
